Watch the trailer. Jay, a failed musician, walked out of his family and now earns a living as head bartender in a trendy London pub. Every Wednesday afternoon a woman comes to his house for graphic, almost wordless, sex. One day Jay follows her and finds out about the rest of her life and that her name is Claire. This eventually disrupts their relationship. Written by Will Gilbert. Jay has left his wife and son a year ago, and lives a disordered life, working as a barman, and carrying some ambiguous relationships with a couple of friends. He meets weekly a woman, Claire, with which he has a pure sexual affair, without any communication, a la 'Last Tango in Paris'. Things start to go wrong in this affair, when apparently involved he follows and finds out the background of the woman, and befriends her husband and young son. The film is not easy, and sometimes the border between complexity and confusion is crossed.

In the MeToo era, actors who perform sex scenes on stage and in films are raising concerns about consent and safety. To meet this new focus, the demand for intimacy directors or coordinators — professionals who work with actors and production staff to ensure safe sex scenes — is on the rise. HBO now requires the presence of an intimacy director in every new production that has intimate scenes. Yet intimacy director Claire Warden says actors have been sounding the alarm for years — for the sake of both actors and audiences — and only recently have powerful industry executives began listening to their concerns. Warden describes her job as part advocate, part liaison, part movement coach expert. Or then, why didn't we have that already? On power dynamics of intimate scenes, how she works with actors to elicit a good yet safe performance and her work as a fight director. But interestingly, we as a society have very different relationship with violence than we do with sex and intimacy. And I think the difference, you know, in the intimacy work is that we are looking at the physical safety and respect, but we're also looking at psychological and emotional safety. So, again, really, it's about building a structure for the actors at the beginning.

O'Brien works as a movement director and intimacy coordinator for film, television, and theater productions, meaning she's well versed in choreographing all kinds of sex scenes. In addition to her work on set, she's also pioneered a rule-book of sorts for productions wanting to use best practices for sex scenes — the " Intimacy on Set " guidelines , part of an organization she founded called Intimacy on Set that can also provide intimacy coordinators, consulting, or training to productions if needed. Insider spoke to O'Brien about what it's like to choreograph sex in movies and TV, and about her work on Hulu's new show "Normal People. Speaking to Insider via Zoom, O'Brien said that choreographing sex successfully is less about chemistry or the intrapersonal relationship between actors, and more about maintaining boundaries and an open line of communication between all parties, including the director. She also stressed the power of a "positive no," wherein an actor can express their physical boundaries without fear of repercussions, and the importance of "agreement and consent. On "Normal People," Connell and Marianne's sexual encounters change as they both grow older and have more sexual experiences with different partners.
